Hola a todos...
How is everyone doing? I`m doing great and am staying safe, healthy and happy. This week we have been seeing some really weird weather... on Friday and Saturday we left the house in a hot summer morning and returned home to a cold, rainy winter night and all day on Sunday it rained and was pretty cold, but now it`s back to being summer and is hot again. We just never know what to expect here with the weather. And because of the rain we didn`t have everyone we were hoping in the church. But the good news is that Eduardo Alonzo, the dad/husband of Rosa, Vanessa and Tatiana who had activated himself to baptize his family and had started to slack back off into his inactive state came to all 3 hours of church with his family in the rain!!!
Rosa is awesome and has been whipping him into shape lately. I can`t wait for the day when they will go through the temple to be sealed and I hope to be here in the mission to be able to go and see it. This week was Eduardo`s birthday and so we went over to their house in the morning and made sloppy joes with them and ate lunch with them. It was really fun and good. And while we are talking about that family...Vanessa sent a friend request to my elder gardner facebook page and is anxiously waiting for one of you to accept it. Maybe Colin and Mason can practice their Spanish with her over facebook. She told me the other day that she had a dream that her and her sister and I were all on a boat sailing off somewhere to share the gospel. It made me smile.
Today we played futbol with the zone and I scored a few goals, and it was really fun. This week we had an activity for the branch where we made TACOS and played UNO. It was really good for the members and their friends and our first counselor Brother Pacheco especially liked the tacos and even announced in Sacrament meeting the following day that he was grateful that I was a neighbor of the Mexicans (referring to the tacos, it was quite funny). We are pressing through the challenges and are still looking and working hard to find the people that the Lord is preparing to be baptized. It`s just been hard lately trying to lead by example as a district leader when we can`t find anybody who is progressing or being baptized. I`m feeling better now, but I hope that we can receive the miracles that we need to lead by word and example here in Sarandi Grande.
There still is no word of phone calls for Christmas, but I`m assuming that they will tell us everything this Friday when we have our mission Christmas conference, where all the mission comes together to have a conference and feel the spirit together. I`m really excited for it. I`ll probably get my package over at the mission home that day as well. I love you all so much and am very grateful for all your support, love and prayers for Elder Jackson and I.
Hey Colin I have something to report that you might like... I`ve been beating up the Uruguayans and making them cry... Well not exactly beating them up, but I have made them cry. The other day Elder Jackson was telling me that I`m making the people cry and it reminded me of you always telling me that you are beating up people and making them cry. The spirit and hard experiences are the best way to make people cry if you don`t want to show off your biceps and beat up the people, hahaha. I`ll update you when I get news of how the phone calls will work.
Until next week...
Elder Gardner
